National Aboriginal Day has been celebrated every June 21st since 1996. This year the Elbert Chartrand Friendship Centre began the celebration at 5:00am with a sunrise ceremony. The celebration continued throughout the day with fiddling, square dancing, traditional dancing and local talent. There was approximately 350 people that enjoyed the celebration with us, including a number of schools as well as community members. The Elbert Chartrand Friendship Centre would like to thank all those who joined us in our celebration and helped make it a success.
Happy National Aboriginal Day! Stop by the Friendship Centre for some entertainment and free stew and bannock!
