Indigenous Languages

Indigenous languages are the entryway to Indigenous cultures,  philosophies and traditional knowledge; sustaining Indigenous languages is intrinsically tied to sustaining Earth’s biodiversity. It is estimated that more than 2,000 languages are endangered or going silent, with less than 1,000 speakers remaining.

Please follow our Elbert Chartrand Friendship Centre Facebook Page for upcoming events.

In-person evening classes that will be starting on Tuesday October 8, 2024.

For more information on our Indigenous Language class please contact Danielle Torfason at 204-734-9301 or email at danielle.torfason@ecfc.ca

Beginning in February we will be looking for language speakers to interview. If you or someone you know think this sounds like something you would be interested in,  please contact Danielle.
